Crustless Coconut Pie Recipe

If you like coconut, this might be the easiest recipe for a quick dessert! The nice thing about this recipe is that you more than likely have the ingredients already on hand. The bisquick and eggs combine to make the "crust", and with only 3/4 cup sugar, it's not too sweet. It reminded me of an egg custard pie with coconut. I actually ate a slice the other morning for breakfast. It tastes great with a dollop of cool whip and my morning cup of coffee... So here's the free printable recipe card for it too!

Happy Sunday Everyone! Today, I would like to share some photos of a real party using one of my originally designed printable party packs. Let me first say that I was so thrilled and TOTALLY blown away with the creativity of one of my customers when provided me with photos of her daughter's Tinkerbell party.

My walkway for less than 94 bucks!

Back in October 2010, our foundation shrubs were getting to be a bit too big. My husband decided to dig all of them out... Here's what it looked like after:

We definitely need some curb appeal, so I headed to Lowe's to see what I could come up with. It just so happened that Lowe's was having a 20% off sale on their patio stones. Here's what I purchased:

138 Harvard paving bricks at 18 cents each!! yes, 18 cents!

138 paver bricks $24.84

29 12x12 patio stones in red and gray $34.22

4 16x16 patio stones $11.12

2 bags rock base and 2 bags Pea gravel $16.90

Landscaping fabric $0.00 (already had some)

1 bag of paving sand $0.00 (already had some)

Sales tax at 7% $6.10

Grand total: a whopping $93.18

(the birdbath fountain was purchased at Lowe's in September for $20.00.)

Here's what we did for less than $94.00.....we used the paver bricks to outline our foundation plantings, and used them to outline the "walkway". We then laid double layers of landscaping fabric down. We did not dig or level, because our front lawn is very flat.

We then started at the front steps and placed four 16x16 patio stones, as a landing pad and then proceeded to placed the 12x12 diagonally until we reached the stopping point, which was the mailbox. The areas that didn't have patio stones were filled in with rock base and sand, and swept into the spaces between the stones. We then topped them off with pea gravel. We then watered everything down. Probably not the "proper" way to do it, but it's been there since October 2011 and it's still working great...with no problems at all.

And now... the final photos....

Our new walkway for under $94.00 and we love it.

Our home needs a little TLC, so this spring, the front porch and door will be painted and some new plantings will go in. I will update you all in Spring.

Happy New Year! It's been a while since I last posted here.... needless to say that the last three months of 2011 were so busy. Enjoyable, but busy! I hope that my schedule in 2012 will allow me the opportunity to keep this blog updated. As a special new year treat, I have posted a free printable recipe card for Red Velvet cupcakes...yum! You know, most everyday I am painting for either a baby or a child, but this time, I got the chance to paint something cute for a kitchen! The customer wanted something fun and whimsical to put on a narrow wall in her kitchen. She wanted the letters "EAT' and for them to reflect kitchen icons, such as mixers, potholders, wisk, cupcakes, baking, tea, coffee, and cocoa... Hmm... I thought that was a lot of stuff, but then I came up with the idea of making each panel a different theme; one for appliances/tools, one for cupcakes and baking, and the last one for tea and cocoa. I kept same color palette throuhout all of the canvases, and well... I think the finished result ended up marvelous. What do you think?

This is DIY printable that you can easily make for a small Valentine's Day Celebration. The package includes a LOVE pennant banner, 12 cupcake toppers, and 4 napkin/silverware wraps in an elegant black/white damask and red polka dot design.
I highly recommend printing these on white cardstock. They are PDF files, and formatted to print on 8.5 x 11 size paper. I was able to carve out a little time in order to make the pennant banner and it turned out really cute....see?

Ladybugs and Dalmations for Triplets

If you happen to know someone who's having triplets, this is a great theme to go with for decorating the nursery... Red, Black and White. These are the first colors that babies see, so it makes sense to welcome them to the world and their nursery with the same color scheme. For these artworks, my customer was having two girls and a boy.
For the girls, she decided to go with ladybugs and for the boy, she went with dalmations.

The name signs work together great, and as a little surprise for the new mom to be, I did an extra painting for her to bring all of them together. Enjoy!

Great Gift Ideas for Christmas

I have come up with some inexpensive name signs that would be great gifts for kids this Christmas. I have already listing these in my etsy shop, and they are available for Christmas delivery, if purchased/paid for by October 31. They are adorable 5x7 size flat canvas panels, with 1 1/2 inch wide ribbon for hanging. Due to the size, I can only accommodate one name, with a maximum of 8 letters for the name, and handpainted to order in stripes, polka dots, swirls, or harlequin designs only. Any color combination! Here are just two examples of what can be done. Enjoy!

Play And Decorate!

Ready for a Sweet Fall!

In addition to catching up on my painting orders this week, I was able to squeeze in some quality time with my 3 year-old daughter. Our fall treasure hunt began with a trip to Lowes, for some gorgeous mums that we purchased for less than $2.50 each! Then on to the Dollar Tree where we picked out some pretty silk flowers, ribbon, faux pumpkins/squash and jack-o-lantern candy baskets. Back at home, we sat down in the middle of the living room floor and proceeded to put our fall wreath together. The mums were placed inside the candy baskets, minus the handle. We had a great time and I think our finished projects turned out pretty great, not to mention the wonderful time that my daughter and I shared together.

I use the same grape vine wreath throughout the year, just cutting the individual flowers from the bush, and pushing them into while weaving the stems through the grapevines. Once the season is over, It's back to the dollar store to gather more flowers, ribbons, decorations for the next holiday or season.

These mums were less than $2.50 at Lowe's. I placed them in a halloween candy basket that I purchased from the dollar store.

Choosing a theme for a boy/girl baby nursery doesn't have to be difficult.

Hi, My name is Karen. I am so happy to offer my hand painted children's artwork and diy printable party packages here on Etsy.

I have been creating art my whole life, but began selling paintings online in 2003. In 2006, I changed my focus to children's artwork while pregnant with my daughter.
She's truly our miracle baby (afer a 17 year wait), and she inspires me to keep creating daily. I hope that my designs and work will inspire you too!
